The galaxy suffers under the cruel Empire. The Rebel Alliance has come together to oppose the totalitarian government. Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan uses her station as Senator of the Imperial Senate to funnel funds and information to the Rebels. On an alleged relief run she acquires the plans to the Empire's new super weapon, the Death Star, capable of destroying entire planets in the blink of an eye.

As her treachery is exposed, Darth Vader, right hand of the Emperor, gives chase. He manages to arrest the Princess, but she can send the plans off with her droids. They end up on Tatooine, the planet where Leia has hoped to find Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, a man recommended to her by her father as a loyal and capable warrior. Before the droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, can find the old Jedi, though, they end up on the moisture farm of Owen Lars. The man's nephew, Luke Skywalker, discovers Leia's holographic message to Kenobi.

With the Empire hot on the droids' heels, things quickly pick up speed. Luke finds himself in the middle of a breathtaking and dangerous adventure, paired with a Jedi General, droids, a Corellian pirate and a Wookiee, trying to save the galaxy.
