Mark Interviews 1980+

The SW Stars Strike Back: Mark Hamill

"There are seven kids in my family," says Mark. "When you're one of a crowd like that, you start showing off early."

Mark's acting career started when he was 18. He appeared on an episode of TV's The Bill Cosby Show. That led to more TV parts and eventually the part of Luke Skywalker in STAR WARS. You know what happened then.

In The Empire Strikes Back, Mark feels that Luke has grown up a lot. "He's not a 'Gee Whiz' as he was in STAR WARS. He is still looking for excitement and adventure, but he knows things may not work out his way. The end of the movie reminds me of those vampire films where the hero joins the vampires in the fade-out. At the ending of Empire, you begin to wonder if Luke can hold out against joining Darth Vader."
