Summary
Ned Irons is an unassuming, good-hearted fellow. He lives in Canada and dreams of one day becoming a Mountie. Unfortunately, he's a little awkward and naive, so there's not much of a chance that he'll ever become one.
Ned stumbles inadvertently into an adventure when he finds ancient papers clarifying ownership of a large area traditionally dwelt in by Native Americans. At first he doesn't realize the importance of his find, but when Ta'eena, whom he considered a friend, tries to have him killed and get the papers, he decides he better run.
His destination is Los Angeles, where his niece Valerie heads the Valerie Irons Protection Agency. Once there and digging a little into the mystery, he finds out that a giant oil company is interested in the lands and that the papers are the only obstacle to obtaining them.
Ta'eena very much wants the money the oil company offered her for the destruction of the papers and so she sets out for Los Angeles, and for Ned...
